A few examples of idiocy, bad intent, or general ineptness crossed my desk this morning:
- Apparently Illinois has an "Israeli Boycott Restrictions Committee" of our investment policy board. Despite the (very Jewish) founders of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream explaining one more time that criticism of Israel's government is not anti-Semitic, the Committee wants to divest from Unilever to protest the ice cream manufacturer's divestment from the occupied West Bank.
- Now, why would anyone think Simone Biles doesn't trust the US Olympic Committee or USA Gymnastics? I mean, other than what they've done to her forever.
- Josh Marshall doesn't think US Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) will actually shit the bed on the infrastructure bill, but he does think she's being a clown.
- Suburban Chicago counties DuPage and McHenry have reinstituted mask requirements as their Covid-19 infection rates climb again. But we're not supposed to ridicule or criticize the anti-vaxxers, because...because...why?
Finally, in an effort not to complain about politics or the Olympics, Gail Collins takes on robocalls.
